Robin Urton: dimensional paintings on glass

A Brief Bio
I was born in Eugene, Oregon, grew up in Kansas City and in San Antonio.. I recently lived in Taos, New Mexico, and now make my home in Portland, Oregon, where I create and teach art. I have a second career creating web designs for artists and creative markets.

Artist's Statement
I think of creating art as a "dreaming meditation". My interests in archetypal psychology, spirituality, metaphysics, the natural sciences, and art history are also apparent in my works
.

My explorations of painting began with oils on canvas, expanding to painting on panels, then carved wood, and eventually glass and plexiglass. Feeling a need to break into layers of space, I currently paint on layers of plexiglass which are stacked in a shadow-box frame. I tend to work in a manner of free-association, or sometimes from a collage or drawing... though everything changes once the painting begins.

I also create prints, cards, and art jewelry. To view these, please visit my store.
